Our friends at NORASPORT will once again be running Supermoto racing at this years Moto G.P. with the “Masters Cup”, plus prizes for various feature events.

Entry fee will be £105.00 per Competitor, for which you will get 3 personal tickets plus one vehicle pass. This will be strictly enforced by S.C.L. QUEENS JUBILEE 5TH JUNE

To mark 60 years of The Queen’s reign the Diamond Jubilee will take place in 2012.

The celebrations will centre around an extended weekend in 2012 on 2, 3, 4 and 5^th June.

So let’s go racing in a FUN OPEN DAY of Dirt Track at Idover Lane, Dauntsey, Near ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT , Wiltshire SN15 4JL on Bank Holiday – Tuesday 5th June.

CLASSES; ADULT QUADS, ELITE YOUTH QUADS, MINI BIKES, DT SOLO, MX SOLO ADULT.

This event will be packed with fun and games and at least five heat races per class. Camping from 4^th June.

QRA OVAL RESULTS 21st APRIL

Cooper’man Fly’s On the Oval

The strange British weather dealt the second round of the British Dirt Track Championship a good hand on Saturday, helping to produce a fantastic racing surface and track for the racers to serve up some excellent racing once again at the grass circuit at Idover Lane, nr Royal Wootton Bassett.

There were classes for Dirt Track Solo, Mini Bikes, MX and Youth Adult Quads. In the Quadzilla QRA British Quad championships a full line up made for awesome racing with all out action and hard fought races. Teenage sensation Luke Cooper from Wales took the spoils on the day producing a superb five ride maximum to push his chances for the title over the six rounds. Reigning champion Carl Bunce of Reading was back at his best coming second after some tremendous battles with 3^rd place man Ben Richmond the pair producing the race of the day. Mick Hall impressed everyone with a fourth place finish whilst Reading based Danny Smith gained two race wins to keep him well within the mix.

James Fletcher again showed his liking for racing in changeable conditions and pushed the front runners all of the way to finish in a very credible 6^thplace overall.

Current series leader Lee Hazelwood dropped down to joint seventh after struggling to find a consistent set up, as was the case for veteran John Elliot, which means the battle for the championships is as close as it could ever get.

QRA Oval (Dirt Track) newcomer Karl Pilcher impressed everyone including himself with a 9^th place finish which included two race wins, whilst another debutant Tom Claxton from Cirencester raced well to get a top 10 finish alongside Geoff Glover. Rostrum finisher from round one at Coventry, Nick Wright of Boston found things tough going ending up in 12^th as did Leicester based Aaron Pole who struggled in 16^th after finishing 6^th at round 1.

Due to a massive hale stone down pour just before the finals, and with championships points already in the bag and overall positions decided, the wet track made the finals a bit of a formality with Carl Bunce pulling well clear in the mud ahead of Richmond and Hall.

Just one of the Elite Youth Quad riders showed on the day, but what a tremendous display he put on impressing the crowd with his skills and certainly captured everyone interest. The lone rider was twelve year old George Hill on his first outing on the 250cc machine and on the oval.

Due to the size of the track the Welsh Pitbikes British Dirt Track Mini Bike Championship competitors had a chicane to contend with, which kept the racing close, interesting and as always keen producing once again top class entertainment.

Race one went to a jubilant Wayne Johnstone, but after that it was all the impressive Adam Frearson’s, who looked pure class, although he was pushed all the way by Luke Coker who has to come from the back on each occasion due to poor starts. Newcomer Tony Tomasso from Poole notched a third place finish overall on his debut and was always on the pace, whilst Welsh chargers Mathew Cole and Billy Coles recorded their best ever finishes with 4^th and 5^th respectively and took a liking to the wet conditions, later in the day.

Johnstone after a few falls, ended up down in sixth overall, but won the final in atrocious conditions following an intense hail storm just before the race. Newcomer Ricky Pay enjoyed his day and pledged to be back and more competitive next time round after a 7^th place finish.

Welsh Pitbikes Competition winner Mark Teggins enjoyed his day and finished a commendable 7^th overall but more importantly enjoyed his Dirt Track experience and will be back for more!

One man stood out from the crowd in the M & S Truck Rentals British Dirt Track Solo class, and that was Chris Johnson who stole the show and produced a maximum out of the top drawer. The former Top British Schoolboy Grass track racer who has only recently come out of retirement after many years out produced a master class to lead the field putting himself now joint top of the leader board with the injured Swindon based Lee Smart and the Australian Cory Gathercole on 20 points

In second Jon Stevens in his first attempt on a grass circuit grew in confidence as the day went on, and looked quick and smooth, ahead of the evergreen Eric Pike gaining 3^rd place with some consistent riding. Comeback man Rob Vincent from Lyneham looked impressive and could of finished higher up the order if he hadn’t missed a race in the end finishing joint 4^th with the Wolverhampton based Richy Guest who once he got started look more than on the pace.

Four riders competed in the MX class with four wins out of five for local Stuntman Andy Hobbs with Paul Oughton taking the victory in the final race.

The biggest plus of the day was the great atmosphere and camaraderie in the pits, with everyone going home with a smile on their face no matter how caked in dirt they were, and it was fantastic to see more newcomers to the sport.

All in all another great days racing with all 53 races completed within two and half hours managing to beat the worst of the storms promised, the slick show was enjoyed by all, as the Championship moves on to Abbey Stadium, Swindon, the home of the Elite League Swindon Robins Speedway team on the 8^th July. HELP FIND BRADLEY JOHN’S STOLEN QUADS

Come on everyone lets help these guys find their Quads and kit.

A substantial award is offered for information regarding the theft of this Honda TRX450R Quad belonging to Bradley John from Wales that was stolen overnight on April 6th along with his spare TRX450R and a whole load of Snap-On tools, a pressure washer and tool chest.

The Quad now has black nerf bars and a 24 volt twin battery starting system.

Our next event was booked for Newport Stadium on 21st April, but due to the sad, yet much publicised collapse of the Speedway club we are unable to confirm until Saturday 17th March if the event is to remain at Newport or move to another venue – so date remains and venue to be confirmed, but we will be racing somewhere on the 21st April.
