British QCCC – Round 2 Take 2
Round 2 take 2 – The Championship Needs Your Support on 6th June.
SEND YOUR ENTRIES IN for the second round of the QRA ACU British Cross Country Championship on the re worked track at Cosford near Rugby which now takes place on the original date for round 3 which is Sunday 6th June at 10.30am.
The venue is just a couple of miles from junction 1 of the M6 off of the A426 towards Rugby and will be different from previous visits.
The event is as ever, open to support riders in addition to riders still welcome to join any of the championship classes which are 4×4/utility, Stock, Rookie, Club, Expert and Pro classes.
The Pro Class is lead at the moment by reigning champion Paul Winrow, from his old sparring partner Steve Atkins and Atkins fellow West Country resident Ridian Wilford but Jason Wildman who went out on lap one of the first round whilst leading will be back.
Sam Barrett heads the Expert class placing the colourful Irishman Paul Harkness as the filling in the Barrett sandwich as Sam’s dad Antony sits in third place overall.
The Club class has the youngster Scott Linley happy with his first round success but has the experienced figures of Richard Clark and Peter Gallagher in 2nd and 3rd followed by a list riders, as in every class ready to steel points away at each round in the future.
The Rookie class victor at round one was Richard Taylor whose ear to ear grin summed up his enjoyment and success in his first season, followed in the top three standings by Ian Ryles and young Laurence Stopps.
The ladies are going well again this year with Ami Price Draper and Ameelie Miller joining Buffy Price for Beverley Barnes crown and they are all looking more than capable. In addition there are the Under 21, Over 40’s etc within the classes.
